Lawn Care
Preparation
The ground should be adequately prepared before laying your new turf to achieve satisfactory results.
Any existing grass/material should be removed prior to rotovating to a depth of 15cm. Ground should be raked to produce a firm level surface.
Laying
Turf can be laid all year round and must be laid within 24 hours of collection/delivery. Create a border one roll wide around the area to be turfed.
Within the border start with the longest straight line, staggering the joints in a brickwork fashion.
Joints should be kept as tight as possible taking care not to stretch the turf. To trim or shape the turf use a sharp knife or half moon spade.
Extra care must be taken when laying during dry weather - it is essential to give the turf a soaking and to check that water has penetrated to the soil below.
Rooting
In warmer months our thin cut turf roots very quickly, however in winter months it will take slightly longer.
* To ensure adequate rooting, turf must be soaked as soon as it is laid.
Turf must be kept well watered until it is established. Water immediately if you notice any signs of shrinking or drying out.
Remember that new turf should not be walked on or mowed until established.
Mowing
Check your lawn has rooted before mowing for the first time.
This can be done easily by lifting a small corner of turf to see if the roots are attached to the soil.
Never cut off more than one third of the total grass length in one mowing as this can cause extreme stress to your lawn. An optimum trained grass length is between 20-35 mm.
Never mow when grass leaves are wet and it is good practice to remove clippings.
Fertiliser
Over the growing season your lawn might change colour slightly due to fertiliser uptake. A balanced NPK compound fertiliser will enhance its appearance.
Please follow manufacturer's guidelines carefully.
